Welcome to SUISHARE.earth - where we're transforming the way students approach food consumption. Our mission is simple yet powerful: reduce food waste in school cafeterias through mindful eating habits and community awareness.
Each time you finish your plate or pack leftovers, you're taking a stand against this global crisis.
One-third of all food produced globally goes to waste while 828 million people face hunger daily. The food we waste could feed every hungry person three times over.
Food waste accounts for 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions. If food waste were a country, it would be the third-largest emitter after China and the USA.
Wasting food means wasting all the resources that went into producing it: water, land, energy, labor, and capital, all while generating harmful methane in landfills.
Start with smaller portions and go back for seconds if still hungry
Take your time and enjoy each meal mindfully
Bring containers for taking food home
Offer unwanted items to friends before discarding
Equivalent to 145 meals thrown away
The hidden water footprint of today's food waste
Carbon footprint of today's wasted food
Agricultural land wasted through food disposal
Every plate of food wasted at SUIS contributes to these alarming statistics. By taking only what you need and packing leftovers, you can help reverse this trend and protect our planet's precious resources.

Current weekly waste amount
Community target by semester's end
That's how much food is wasted globally each year – enough to feed 3 billion people. That's almost 10 times the population of the United States!
The average student wastes about 35% of their lunch. At SUIS, we're working to bring this number down to below 10% through awareness and action.
If food waste were a country, it would be the third-largest emitter of greenhouse gases, after China and the United States.

The SUISHARE approach combines education, community action, and positive reinforcement to create lasting change in how we think about and interact with food.
The SUISHARE initiative began in 2024 when a group of environmentally conscious students noticed the amount of food being thrown away daily in the cafeteria. What started as a simple awareness campaign has evolved into a comprehensive program with administrative support.
We're dedicated to reducing food waste at SUIS by 75% within two years through education, awareness, and community involvement. We believe small daily actions can lead to significant global impact.
We welcome volunteers to help with data collection, awareness campaigns, and developing new initiatives. Contact us at info@suishare.earth to get involved or share your ideas for reducing food waste on campus.
